Dogs and Babies. Cats and Babies. No topics illicit more squeals of delight en mass. Some would call it cute overload. However sometimes, pet owners find themselves in a conundrum: baby on the way, what to do with our beloved pet?

I have a friend who, when she found she was pregnant, confided in me not her hopes and dreams for her child (though she most certainly had those!) but her fear, “what if my dog hates me?!”

Another friend of mine almost ended a friendship over a Facebook comment that suggested her precious, darling dog wouldn’t be so precious or darling once her daughter was born.

I’ve yet another friend who, when she found out she was pregnant with her daughter, tearfully said goodbye to her beloved cat and dog because she was worr

ied about being able to handle 3 “babies”.

There is obviously no cookie cutter solution to this situation. As a person who has only ever had 4-legged babies, I cannot imagine the worry that would go into deciding the future of your brood.

This can also be a very polarizing topic. Some would say that pets and babies don’t mix, others heartily disagree. What do you think? Have you had to make this decision? What did you do? What advice can you give others?

Please leave a reply below! I’d love to hear from you!

Dog Vs. Diaper Genie

PS- I was recently told by a coworker to GET A DIAPER GENIE if you have babies and dogs. Dogs love diapers. As snacks. Apparently.
